Is Earthwon Right for You?

Is Earthwon® or POSSE® right for your organization? That depends on what you are looking for in an end-user solution. What is your business need? Are you looking for a business transformation and new technology, or just technology? What are your resource levels and organizational commitment to implementing a Business Process Management (BPM) solution?

Your options are:

  1. Custom-build solution
  2. Commercial Off The Shelf solution (“COTS”)
  3. A Modifiable Off The Shelf solution (“MOTS”) – this is what both POSSE and Earthwon are:
    1. A commercially available product (also described as “Modifiable COTS solution”);
    2. Configurable to your site-specific needs and business

Relative to expensive, time-consuming and unproven custom-build applications, and inflexible and potentially incomplete pre-configured COTS business solutions, we believe that POSSE/Earthwon, as a MOTS solution using BPM technology, offers the best value to large government organizations.

Business Transformation

If business transformation is part of your technology upgrade, we recommend you use recognized “best practice” for achieving improvement:

  1. Complete desired business process re-engineering (BPR);
  2. Document processes and business rules for new vision – “use case” methodology* preferred;
  3. Procure IT solution to support the vision.

* “Use case” analysis, as espoused primarily by IBM’s Rationale Methodology, is a recognized analysis and BPR "best practice" that lends itself especially well to a regulatory environment to help define system requirements.

The “use case” approach is primarily workflow-centric and, therefore, valuable to regulatory agencies undergoing transformation. Ultimately, when the time arrives, up-to-date documentation of your "use cases" will allow software vendors to understand your capability-oriented system requirements in the context of the in-scope business processes that will remain “as is” and those that have been improved through BPR.
